# Public Hook Audit Checklist

Use this reference when a hook needs fast scoring or repair outside the full BuildOS runtime.

## Minimum Inputs

- Target viewer.
- Platform and format.
- Draft hook or topic.
- Available key visual.
- Body payoff the hook promises.

## Audit Order

1. **Topic clarity:** The topic noun appears in the first 5-7 words or first 1-2 seconds.
2. **Audience relevance:** The hook names the viewer's pain, desired outcome, or identity.
3. **Slot grammar:** Subject, action, objective, and contrast are present. Proof and time appear only when credible.
4. **Archetype fit:** Pick one primary archetype: Fortune Teller, Experimenter, Teacher, Investigator, or Contrarian. Magician is only a modifier.
5. **Three beats:** Context lean, contrastive interjection, snapback. If the hook is one line, it still needs clarity and contrast.
6. **Visual alignment:** Spoken hook, visual hook, text overlay, and audio cue point at the same idea.
7. **Payoff integrity:** The body can actually answer the curiosity the hook creates.

## Failure Modes

- Delay: topic arrives too late.
- Confusion: hook can be read in more than one plausible way.
- Irrelevance: the viewer cannot tell why it matters to them.
- Disinterest: no A vs. B contrast or no curiosity gap.
- Empty snapback: the hook overpromises what the body cannot pay off.

## Output

Return:

1. Score: `ship`, `rewrite`, or `reject`.
2. First failing gate.
3. One-sentence diagnosis.
4. Three revised hook options.
5. Required visual/text-overlay note.
